To raise the evaluation standards for domestic humanities and social sciences research as well as to enhance the quality of scholarly publications, the NSC launches the NSC Guidelines for the Funding of Publications in the Humanities and Social Sciences supervised by the HRC and the SSC.

To enhance the quality of domestic journals in the humanities and in the social sciences as well as the print quality of scholarly books, HRC establishes guidelines for the Subsidy for the Editing of Scholarly Journals.  Meanwhile, to raise the quality of scholarly books, HRC provides funding via the Subsidy for the Review of Book Drafts by Scholarly Journals program to cover the costs of reviewing the drafts of scholarly books by established publishers of well-known academic journals.
